A few weeks ago I decided to pony up and buy some good sheepskin boots (my vegan friends may not want to read this post). Aside from the fact that it’s been unreasonably unseasonably cold, they’re easy to wear to yoga since I can wear them with bare feet and not lose a toe or 10 to the frost.
I’ve had a cheapie pair from Target that I’ve worn to death even though they’re a little big and slide off my feet, but they got a little funky pretty quickly. Right before Christmas I saw a pair of these EMU Platinum Singer Hi Boots on Gilt for sale the same day they had a smokin’ 50% off deal so I snagged these for about $50. I am fully addicted to these (if addiction to boots is a thing). They’re now my go-to shoe/boot/slipper. I rarely take them off. They are the warmest, most comfortable shoe I now own. And I’m kicking myself for not getting another pair for such a bargain. Even at full price they’re a lot cheaper than Uggs, which I never got on board with for some reason.
So now I’m finally going to toss my old Target version and save my pennies for another pair.
Am I behind the curve on these or has anyone bought them already?

I REALLY want UGGS right now. (Temp this morning was 8 degrees when I went for coffee.) Those are dang cute though.
I was actually thinking of you when I wrote this, wondering how cold it is there. It’s gotten down to about 26 degrees here, which for So Cal is arctic! I like UGGS, but I feel like they’re sort of overpriced.
Didn’t you wear these boots to a vegan friend’s house? :p
Ehem. Maybe…That’s why I *really* came in with my flip-flops on!
See, when I think of cold-weather boots, I think of something that can stand up not just to the cold, but also the muck—y’know, something I could use to kick off the slush build-up on the wheels of the car.
Nevermind that I no longer own a car, and that, compared to other places I’ve lived, NYC winters aren’t really all that mucky. . . .

NYC winters aren’t that mucky? I would have thought the opposite. It doesn’t matter that you don’t have the car, it’s the idea that if you had to kick the slush, you could!
Nah, not compared to Madison, Minneapolis, Montreal, or Boston. We barely got any snow last winter, and thus far this winter? Just flurries.
In any case, I’m more of a Doc Martens than Uggs kinda gal. . . .

Oh, honey. I love you, but aren’t these just Uggs from a different seller? O.o
I wish I loved this look – in theory it is a good idea. But on me, I just think it looks silly.
Sort of. I’ve tried UGGs and there’s something I don’t like about them. These are unbelievably comfy to me!
I have those same exact boots, although mine are 7 years old and need replacing. So comfy and easy to put on. And they handle muck fine. Not really WET muck, but frozen muck is no problem.
