I had a very similar high school experience and I’ve only been to my 5 year, and have skipped the rest. That’s mainly due to the fact that most of my crowd lives near each other and keeps up on a regular basis – like, play dates and lunches – and I don’t move in that circle. What is there to really talk about with these people? All the stuff you want to know is already on FB, right?

I “talk” to a lot of people on Facebook, but I don’t know how things will go in person.

My Michelle won’t go and it’s no fun to be Romy without her! It would be a no-brainer for me if she went. *Sigh*

My husband is going to his 40th this year and they’re making a whole weekend out of it—class reunion one night, school reunion the next. But his high school is an hour away from where we live—mine is a 6-hour drive. I might be more inclined to go if it were closer.

I’m leaning in the Not Going direction. The time and money I’d have to spend to hang with a group of people whose only connection is that we were forced to co-exist together for four years sounds a little torturous. (Wow. Long and awkward sentence. Sorry about that.)

I hesitate to say no yet, though because there are people going who I wouldn’t normally get to see…

A friend of mine had her canvas Toms painted and they are adorable. Where do you get that done?

I don’t know if you can paint on the grosgrain material—it’s very similar to a satin ballet slipper, so I imagine if you could, they’d look pretty awesome!

Personally, I wouldn’t go. Not my kind of thing. HS was not all kinds of fun and I don’t talk to anyone from that time period (class of ’88 in the hiz-ouse!)

However, I think you should totally find a Michelle to compliment your Romy and go just to reenact that entire movie. Post-It’s and all.

Hi, i have a pair of black canvas toms (the normal style) and i got them hand painted and they look fabulous. i was wondering if the petal grosgrain one has the same kind of material on top that you can paint on? thanks so muuchh

I haven’t been to any of mine. I would have gone to my last one (30th) if an old friend had needed me to go for her, but she was good.

My parents went to their 50th’s and said they were a blast so maybe I’ll go to my 50th?

I went to my 5th year and haven’t been to one since. I figure I already keep in touch with anyone I am still interested in knowing. The rest? I wish them well.

I went to my 10 year and skipped the 20 year. I went to the 10 year out of curiosity and it was enough for me. As the next 10 years went by and with the invention of FB anyone that I would be remotely interested in catching up with I did so through FB. I had a core group of friends and everyone else I was friendly with. I also don’t really get the whole concept of high school reunions, generally speaking. Why spend all that money to attend a function simply because you all went to school together at one time only to have former classmates who, as you so aptly pointed out, may or may not remember you?

I’d rather spend that money and time on a trip with my husband or girlfriends to have some REAL fun!
