I can’t believe it’s been more than a month since I’ve written here. What the hell have I been doing all day, right? I’m still unemployed so I have no excuse not to be writing fabulously engaging copy all day.
For one thing, I have a pretty awesome freelance job that has been keeping me busy. It’s right up my alley—editing health and fitness copy for a supplement company that’s building out their website and developing content.
I’ve also just been trying to keep up with my yoga teacher training. This program is so different from the 200-hour training because I have to be more self-reliant—there is a crap ton of reading, but no specific homework that needs to be done and turned in. No one is checking up to make sure I’m doing it. There aren’t any quizzes or tests either. I’ve already completed my apprenticeship so I’m not really checking in with anyone on a regular basis; I just have to sign in (and out) of the workshops I’m required to attend.
Meanwhile, I had a promising job interview this week, so keep your fingers crossed, do a rain dance, say a prayer and burn some sage. This job is a thousand different kinds of awesome and I want it. Badly.
Besides, I’ve been unemployed three months now and as much as I have loved being home all day (I mean, really love being home all day) I think I’m getting dumber every day. I’ve found myself watching The View some mornings. And occasionally I’ll catch and episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians because apparently they run 24 hours a day on the E! network. I know—I feel deep shame.
I’ve set up a new blog called The Modern Yogini, which is probably stupid because I can’t seem to write on one blog let alone two. I even set up a Facebook page for it earlier this summer. I think I’m going to keep all my yoga over there and eventually, it will be a business website for me. I will link out to if from this blog in case you still want to follow my yoga journey, but that won’t be the focus around here any more. The design is still a work in progress—it’s just the basics for now.
I’m hoping the separation will make this blog fun and light again because shit got real around here for a while and I was never terribly comfortable with that. These changes will make it much easier for me to write because I was always torn about what to put here and when to shut up.
I’m going to clean up the Daily Snark, making it less yoga-y, and I’m going to add a Best Of page, as well as a page called the Daily Sip, which will be full of cocktail recipes and fun stuff like that.
So that’s the plan. What do you think?
